Priyanka Chopra Shares Her Insights About Empowering Women At an Interactive Session by UNICEF

I remember a very old statement remarked by an acquaintance. “Unlucky are those, whose first child is a daughter.” In a country like India where we nurture this kind of a mindset, you can expect what is actually thought about a girl child.

In the present situation of technological growth and development, we often forget how necessary women empowerment is. Still now we hear issues of marital rape, female infanticide, female abuses and suicides pertaining to dowries. Well, on one hand we have a scenario where we boast of touching the skies with our technological achievements and on the other hand we have women still struggling to make their way towards education.

UNICEF, the global Non-Profit organization, concerning this issue, organized a session in the presence of illuminating personalities. Priyanka Chopra, the goodwill ambassador of UNICEF, shared her inputs about essential it is to empower adolescent education for women in India. At present, India happens to be the home of around 243 million adolescents and each on their behalf contributes to the growth and development of the Nation.

Pic2However when we nip the bud in its growing stage itself, how can one expect the Nation to progress truly? Priyanka Chopra in her conversation remarked that how, it is the mindset of the people, that one needs to change as the initial step towards women empowerment. She referred that how women should be allowed to choose their career paths without any external forces being inflicted on her.

Pic6UNICEF Global Goodwill Ambassador, Priyanka Chopra said, “Adolescents today face a unique set of challenges. Giving them the tools to improve their lives will help create a generation of economically-independent citizens who will actively contribute to their communities. Investment in adolescents can lift millions out of poverty by creatinga constructive and skilled workforce.

unicef2“I strongly believe that our regular efforts in empowering adolescent girls will contribute to the growth of our country” she added. Focusing on the issue of child marriage, she said, “A girl who is married as a child is more likely to be out of school, experience domestic violence. She is more likely to have children when she is still a child. There are more chances of her dying due to complications during pregnancy and childbirth.”

unicef1With her srong emphasis on women empowerment, she also mentioned that she along with Bollywood, can only be the instruments of change. It is the entire society who has to take the final step collectively to make an impact on women’s education and empowerment.

With an enriching interaction with the media and a group of young boys and girls, Priyanka Chopra also shared her insights about how The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative is gaining momentum response in several parts of the Nation.

Union Minister for Textiles Smt Smriti Irani also paid a visit to the Jharcraft pavilion and took a close look at the handloom collection. She also discussed the initiatives being undertaken to help artisans from the state to achieve better market access and improve their livelihood.

Tussar Silk, a special silk variety produced in eastern and central India, primarily in Jharkhand, was the special focus of the collection. India is the second largest producer of Tussar silk and the exclusive producer of Indian Tussar (also known as tropical tussar). In recent years, Jharkhand state has emerged as the largest producer of Tussar silk in the country.

The artisans producing the silk are largely poor tribals from Jharkhand state. In its quest to improve sources of livelihood for these artisans, Jharcraft works to promote their work and take it to national and international platforms.

“These silks are a deep manifestation of the tribal arts and crafts of the region and reflect the well-springs of creativity endowed with the ethnic communities of Jharkhand. Recognizing it as a source of income, the artisans of the state have in recent years further cultivated and enhanced their skills as well as variety of products. Jharkhand is today the leading producer of Tussar silk which is attracting much attention, especially among the discerning fabric lovers. By associating with such an event and showcasing Tussar silk and garments made of other handlooms of Jharkhand, our attempt is to take ours fabrics and handlooms to international markets,” said K Ravi Kumar, Managing Director, Jharcraft.

Tussar silk is made from silkworms. Some varieties produced in Jharkhand is also known as ‘Ahimsa’ silk because unlike the traditional process, this process allows silkworms to leave the cocoons before the cocoons are soaked in boiling water and reeled. The use of 100% natural dyes made from tree bark, vegetables, wild grasses and flowers ensure purely organic silk.

With such vibrant hues explored at one of the top-notch Fashion Shows of India, Jharkhand once again reinstated its repute as the finest producer of Tussar Silks.

SixThings That Men Must Do To Make TheWoman of Their Life Feel Special

Dear Men,,

This goes out to all of you who believe in getting married to a radical, modern woman but is unable to grow himself to the standards of a contemporary woman identity. Today is International Woman’s Day, a day dedicated completely to appreciate the incomparable role of women but the question still remains unanswered. Is a single day enough to realize the value of a woman? When a woman sacrifices her entire life, stands against all odds and puts in all her emotional strength just to safeguard the interests of her family, a singular day is not at all sufficient to celebrate her womanhood.

And if you really want to make your woman feel desired and special respecting her qualities of womanhood in the truest sense, showering her with gifts is not the solution. Being a married woman, my blogpost is today centered chiefly towards all men who are either into a relationship or is married to a woman. This Woman’s Day reach out to the woman of your life by fulfilling her potential emotional needs, making her feel like a true woman indeed.

Address The Emotional Needs of The Heroine of Your Life

Sounds to be extremely challenging for a man but adhering to the poignant necessities of your dear woman is indeed essential! As a woman, every female desires from her man adequate attention and some pampering. She desires to confide in you and expects the vice-versa. Even if you keep your Lady Love occupied with shopping sprees and gifts, your time and attention can never be substituted. Spare some time from your hectic schedules, ask her how her day was and share your routines too. After all she is Your Woman, your Best Friend.

Woman's Day emotions

Never Humiliate Her

Since ages, especially in India we women have been ascribed an inferior position as compared to men and many of us have silently accepted the role. But being the creator of a life, don’t we all deserve to be equated with men? If you cannot respect the woman present in your life at least don’t ever humiliate her. Never forget that she has been the reason behind your smiles and a happy life.

Appreciate AND Recognize Her Qualities Socially

Every woman is special in her own way and unique in her manners and all she wants from you is a bit of recognition of them from you. She doesn’t want you to sing her praises or go gaga over her, but all she expects from you is to acknowledge her efforts not only privately but sometimes also in public. Praise her in front of your friends or family, speak about her unique qualities and believe me the Woman of your life would indeed be truly happy with you rewarding you with her charming smiles always.

Make Her Feel Beautiful

Your woman may be tall or short, fat or slim, dark or fair but she is the woman you have chosen as a partner. Even if her body is filled with stretch marks and her face is tanned, remember those are the marks of her hardships. Her stretch marks reflect how she has carried a little one in her womb for 9 months. Her tanned face shows how she chose to complete her duties over going for a facial. Pass on a compliment to her sometimes saying she is looking beautiful. Buy her a dress of your own choice and tell her to put it on. Believe me she will be more than happy to oblige you.

Stand By Her Socially

Try to stand beside her in all her efforts. Try to support her socially whether it’s front of your family or friends, never make her feel isolated in her decisions. If she has chosen a specific career path for herself, make her feel strong by supporting it in front of your family and friends.

If she is born a woman it does not mean all household chores are her fortes. Extend your hand help to your loved one. Share responsibilities equally , whether it’s the regular routine of making the dinner or lunch or just changing your baby’s diapers. Every task you share with her will make her feel more relaxed and happy.

Making the Woman of your life happy is indeed not quite a difficult task you see. Respect her liberty, make her feel special and undoubtedly there can’t be a more better way to celebrate Woman’s Day throughout your life.
