Kaafila: A Sumptuous Journey Into The Afghani Kitchen
When dull and monotonous tastes have made your food mundane, it’s time for you to welcome a perfect and innovative menu. And Kaafila is the perfect location for this purpose. With an Afghani flavour creeping into your tastes, you are sure to witness one of the best food journeys.
‘Kaafila’ is a restaurant situated in one of the most popular malls, City Centre, DC-Block, B-wing, 3rd Floor, Salt Lake Kolkata. As you enter the place you are welcomed by a magnificent setting, a delightful marriage of antique lights and drapes adorning through the edges of the ceiling. The sitting area accommodates 50-60 guests at a time.
The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering shorbas and detectable starters in the form of kebab platters. It consists of a wide variety of Mughlai, Afghani and North Indian. On my first visit I was bowled over by the freshness and the authenticity of the food Along with the warmth of the environment.
Going by the taste buds’ opinion, some of the best dishes that they serve are the Kandahari Laham which is made of the leg piece of mutton, Afghani Murgh ke Kalmi, Tehari Murgh and Gosht Khoda Masala. The chefs take great care in selecting the best quality ingredients and presenting them to their customers. The restaurant also caters to the tastes by providing a moderately large section of the best country liquors along with choice of cocktails. All of these can be followed by some delicious Mughlai desserts. However Kaafila celebrating a rich variety of royal dishes also demands a high pricing.
So whether it is a classy luncheon or an aristocratic dinner, you can opt for Kaafila, one of its kind Afghani restaurants in the City of Joy.
The welcome was heart-warming. Thankfully the manager, a warm and cordial middle-aged man is always around the corner willing to exchange some kind words with all his clients.
But despite the high price of the food, we had a pleasant luncheon experience with the food of the most exquisite flavours. For this reason we highly recommend making a visit to the ‘Kaafila’ restaurant.
