“To describe a mother would be to write about a hurricane in its perfect power. Or the climbing, falling colors of a rainbow.” — Maya Angelou
They say that mothers are gifted with superpowers from The Almighty to fight with all odds that come in their own and their children’s paths. The Mothers can fight with all their potential till their last breath to remove all the obstacles that hinders their child from blooming. These superpowers are nothing but their inner strength, extraordinary courage which come from within which one musters during the course of the wonderful journey called motherhood.
Let’s meet, such a wonder woman, a brave hearted iron lady, Sharmi Roy who is keeping no stones unturned for the treatment of her 3 year old boy who is suffering from chronic congenital kidney problems. Sharmi’s son, Arnesh requires regular dialysis and this Iron Lady is planning to donate her kidney as the little boy grows up.
Sharmi stands out to be a figure who represents the sheer determination of a mother.
So here’s her story in her own words:
At first when you came to know about your child’s health condition, how did you deal with it?
I was devastated because it was my 2nd mishap as before my son Arnesh I gave birth to my first daughter who died just within 15 days after her birth .This time I didn’t wanted to lose my son . I used to question God that why I had to go through all these things. But with time I understood that I was the chosen one who can take the best care of my son so for that reason I started to take things easy and deal with patience because my one wrong decision can worsen the entire scenario.
How do you tackle all these situations throughout?
With times I have mastered the way to tackle these situations as I constantly keep myself updated with the information about CNS patients and also connected to groups where all the CNS patients’ parents are in touch with each other.
Who has been your constant support system?
I can’t really mention only a single person for supporting me my husband Arnab Roy, my dad and my mom all are my support system mentally, physically and financially.
How do you manage time especially having a new born?
It’s really difficult in the beginning but now I have made a proper schedule for both my kids and try to follow that as time management is very important for me.
What keeps you motivated, owing to the fact that you are an entrepreneur?
Success is what motivates me to do a good job. Knowing the fact that my hard work and perseverance will help me achieve greater professional success is what keeps me going. I want to challenge myself constantly. It is necessary to keep refining one’s skills and never stop learning .My mom is my role model.
What will be your message for other mothers?
Every moms are best no special message only I would like to say that just raise your kids with good values, inculcate good qualities within your kids from the very beginning and be their best friend so that they share everything with us .
Kids are like soft clay we parents can mould them as we want to, proper guidance will help to create a great future for your kids
An M.tech and PhD pursuer Sharmi left her prospective career only to carry out the bigger responsibility of a mother. Now she is the proud owner of a handmade jewelry brand “Goynaar Baksho”, managing her set up, looking after her two kids and strongly handling her son’s health condition.
