So get your Valentine’s Day plans set with this exclusive property located in the heart of Delhi NCR.
Punjabi cuisine has always been my soft corner of taste. The delectable tandooris, the smokey grills, the soft, mouth melting daal makhani are some dishes for which the love never dies.
And especially when you are in the Capital City, the amazing colors of the Punjabi assortments just cannot be missed out. But out of the huge bunch of food outlets that Delhi offers to you for the amazingly delicious Punjabi taste, it is indeed difficult to make the correct pick. So let us help you a bit by offering you the perfect choice for the Indian cuisine in Delhi.
A few days back I chanced to visit Rang De Basanti, The Urban Dhaba located in Hauz Khas Village and undoubtedly I can claim this outlet to be the paradise for every North Indian foodie. Let me share what’s in store for you at the vibrant, bustling, quirky eatery.
Let’s start the journey with some incredible drinks that this superb eatery has to offer:
Though Rang De Basanti has traditional Punjabi dishes, but they decide to offer every dish with a perfect twist and their Chaach is not an exception.
The Tadka Chaach with the fine sprinkling of coriander and cumin tadka proves that even usual butter milk can be given a great innovative taste if mixed with the correctly chosen spices.
The Chaach is also available in flavors of Theekha( a bit chilly and spicy) as well as the plain one.
Range De Basanti’s Desi Lassi that comes both in the sweet as well as salty varieties are also enriched in tastes with their rich creamy curd textures, heavy enough to quench your thirst and your hunger to a great extent.
Coming to starters, Rang De Basanti once again maintains its ritual of combining the usual conventional Punjabi delicacies with a punch of innovation and their starter menu establishes so to a great extent.
In Love with Naachos? Rang De Basanti has its exclusive version of Nachos, the “Naancho” with Mutton Keema. If wondering what exactly it is, let me elaborate a more.
These were naans shaped and cut in the form of Nachos, a bit harder in texture than the ordinary naans. Naanchos served with mutton keema as a dip is indeed the Punjabi version of the famous Nachos.
Being a Bong I am a fish fanatic and this dish from the house of RDB fulfilled my cravings for crispy fish to the core. Crispy, crunchy fish fried and served with an exclusive RDB chutney is a dish you cannot afford to miss.
A lovely chicken legpiece starter smoked to perfection with amazing spices and served with chutney specialties from Rang De Basanti.
Soft soyabean pieces served in the form of minimal gravy, commonly known as champ in a tangy, semi-spicy form.
If you are taken aback by the name, then let me unfold the history behind its nomenclature. It’s not the typical Delhite Kadi Chaawal, but presented with culinary twists. It comes in the form of deep fried balls which contain rice and is served with the Indian curry “Kadhi”.
Whichever curries you may try, the Hari mirch ki roti is a must accompaniment for a twist in the normal breads.
In case you are a rice addict like me then meat chawal that is basically a pulao with mutton pieces is worth a try.
To end your lavish meal in the perfect manner, the Bhayankari Meetha Paan, an In-house icecream served with beetle leaf and gulkand is a definite try.
The Dishes with “Bhayankari” taglines are not to be missed at all. While the term “ Bhayankari” is quite misleading with indication to dangerous, but in Rang De Basanti Urban Dhaba, every dish is Bhayankari considering its killing goodness and finger-licking tastes.
So whenever you visit Rang De Basanti Urban Dhaba, never forget to give a try to the signature “Bhayankari” dishes.
