2.MAWLYNNLONG—THE CLEANEST VILLAGE

Mawlynglong with all its scenic beauty and its habitants’ enthusiasm for cleanliness was named as the ‘Cleanest Village in Asia’. The village of Mawlynnlong which actually means ‘God’s Own Garden’ is famous for its eco-friendly tourism and clean surroundings. They also made an 80 ft. long tower by bamboo shoots in order to have an eagle’s view of the plains of Bangladesh that is quite near to the village.
Umiam Lake, located near the town of Shillong is famous for its crystal-clear water. It is also a hub for a number of adventure water sports like kayaking, boating and many more.
- DAWKI TOWN

Dawki town, situated near the Indo-Bangladesh border and near about an hour from Mawlynnlong village is famous for its emerald colored Umngot river. We can take a beautiful and picturesque through the river which also allows us to experience the lifestyle across the border.
- SACRED GROVE
Near about 45 minutes’ drive from Shillong will take you towards a sacred grove made and maintained my Khasi tribe. It houses a number of medicinal plants. Members of Khasi tribes often use this grove as the burning place of dead bodies. There is a 16 kilometer long David Scott trail near the grove that gives a great picturesque view of the hills. The grove is also near to a heritage Khasi village where you can experience traditional Khasi lifestyle.
- NOHKALIKAI WATERFALLS
Meghalaya is a home for many beautiful waterfalls of which Nohkalikai is the highest one, located near Cherapunjee. It is the tallest plunge waterfall on India with a height of 1115 feet (340 metres). Other waterfalls of Meghalaya like Langshaing Falls, Elephant Falls are also major tourist attractions.
