This Single Mother Did Not Give Up At The Most Difficult Times And Now She is A Successful Entrepreneur

Meet Sandita Dasgupta!

She is a teacher, she is an amateurish singer, an entrepreneur, a multitasker, but above every role which she plays she loves to be known as Ritobroto’ s mother. She is a single mother of a 10 year old champ and is bringing him up  fulfilling all his desires with the best of her abilities.

She has gone through a failed marriage. While many other chooses to live their entire life adjusting and blaming their fate she chose to overpower  her fate and write the story of her life . Let’s hear her inspiring story.

Tell us your journey as a single mother.

I got married in 2007. It was a love marriage. I knew him for almost two years before getting married. But after few months of my marriage things were not like before, it turned out to be different. He started fighting and quarrelling with me on trivial issues. Gradually things started becoming more worst. I kept on trying my level best and always took the initiative to sort them out, but it was not fruitful. In the meantime I was blessed with a baby boy on 2009, I was struck with a ray of hope , thought of forgetting the past memories and dreamt of having a beautiful family life. But it was a nightmare. He used to be drunk everytime returning from work and started abusing me both physically and mentally in front of my kid.  We used to live with our in laws, but no one protested. He had no attachment with my kid, seldom did he look for his needs and requirements. His abuses went on increasing. In the meantime I spoke to my family, they told me to have patience and wait.

Back in 2012,when my kid was almost 3years old,one day he started hitting me in front of my son, he was in state of shock, afraid, and traumatized. Right at that point of time, I have walked out straight from that house and never turned back. Later on  continued with the legal procedure,of taking the custody of my child. I haven’t taken any alimony as I was determined that I will raise my child without seeking anybody’s help.

How did you deal with it initially?

Both of us we were intimidated by his presence. Although we were  unaware about what to do next still we were happy we with our decision.

Apprehension was there, about our society, relatives, about how will they gossip about us and might mistreat my son. But, instead of living every moment under threat I chose to move out. I was pretty sure of what I can do, had faith on my abilities, and my degrees. Only one thing which brushed my mind is that my son could not grow in that unhealthy environment.

Who was your support system throughout?

Undoubtedly my family, my parents, my brother his wife  and now of course my son. Initially they were also in a state of shock but they always respected my decision and gave me moral support. I used to leave my son with them and go out for seeking jobs at various places. They used to take care of him all day long. As of now, my son has become their entire world.

What were the problems you had to face?

By God’s grace I didn’t face any  such bashes from the society nor from my relatives. Actually wheather anybody gossiped about me or not I didn’tcare my only priority was my son and his well being. Initially before I got my job I was a bit frustrated and de moralised, I needed some financial stability, so I used to  do a lot of private tuitions. After getting my job in a reputed school nearby there was no turning back.

When did you think of Giving Wings To Your Dreams?

From childhood only I was very much keen about painting and singing. Art and painting was my passion .After getting the job life was stable still sometimes I had to think twice before fulfilling small small wishes of my son. So one day I thought why not turn my passion into my profession?

Back in 2016, one fine day I was scrolling down Facebook and saw some handmade jewellery page. I got very much interested, and thought of starting the same. Started with a meagre capital in hand,I have made only 35 pairs of earrings . I have showed them to my colleagues and relatives . Within a week all got sold.

My designs were liked by all and they told me to bring more of them and pre ordered too.  This gave me a lot of boost and motivation, and I seriously made my mind to sell them professionally. Gradually I opened a online jewellery store to outreach more people. Since my jewellery were unique and available at affordable prices I was getting a lot of positive feedback and number of my customers started increasing.

I didn’t stop over here. I have decided to broaden my horizon by making hand painted saree and dress material which also gained popularity among my previous buyers as well as new people.

Recently in 2019, I have opened my own boutique store, which is running successfully by God’s grace and I am now investing maximum time into it. All these were not possible without my family, friends, colleagues, and my well wishers.

What are your future plans?

My biggest priority is to raise my son as a well educated and most importantly into a good human being.

I am also planning to open couple of branches of my boutique to increase the reach of my products. Already I am Shipping my products throughout India and now shipping beyond border are on the cards.

What is your message for those women who are still adjusting in a failed marriage?

Throughout our society we see women being dominated and threatened. My message for those women is that come out of your cocoon and make your own identity. If you are not happy then do not live in  a life just being someone’s wife. Don’t spent your entire life under threat and dominance. Be self dependent . Love yourself, cling on to your passion. There is only one life so live it to the fullest.

Three Indian Babycare Brands That You can Trust For Your Baby: Go Vocal For Local

Owing to the present scenario of nationwide lockdown,we could see how the economic condition of our country declining and deteriorating day by day. Our honorable Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi himself in his last address to the nation on 12th May, have stressed upon using the products which are manufactured locally in our country. The  new hashtag now taking rounds everywhere are #vocalforlocal , #madeinindia, #makeinindia which will be a new step towards making India ‘ atmanirbhar’ that is self reliant and self dependent. It feels really interesting to note that gradually people are showing enthusiasm seeing the made in india products. But, if you introspect into the mindset of the people of our society,a large section of people are totally clueless about the origin of the product. Sometimes they are actually using a product because it is used by them from their ancestral times. Common example is of the American brand Colgate which is a household name in our society. So,now the need of the hour is making people aware of our homebrands which are at par or may be sometimes better than their foreign siblings which will somehow help us to resurrect the falling economy of the country.

Whenever,it is about any baby products we always do cross check and make ourselves doubly sure about the authenticity of the products.Generally we rely on those top International brands which have earned popularity like Chicco, Sebamed etc. Let’s now inform you about those made in India brands which are grabbing eyeballs especially of mothers and women because of their organic formulation, authenticity and fairly affordable prices.

Difference Between A Micellar Water & Toner That Every Skincare Buff Should Know

Girls out there, raise your hands if you claim yourself to be a complete skin care freak and get worried with the sign of a minute pimple popping out in your face and start your own DIY hacks. Well, if you are a part of the crowd, then you must be vulnerable to a chain of experiments with new products. But sometimes, unknowingly we cause a lot of damage to our skin due to our frequent adoption of products without having a proper knowledge of what to use  when .One such confusing skincare practice is the use of micellar water and toner, what are their differences and how to use each let’s clear that up.

While both the micellar water and toner seem to be extremely similar whether in texture, consistency or use, both of their purpose in your skincare regime is extremely different.

Micellar water is a multipurpose cleaning product made up of purified water and small particles of cleansing oil called micelles . Their sole purpose is to free your skin from all the impurities and keep its natural goodness intact. So it’s a one stop solution that removes make up ( even the stubborn waterproof eye makeup),grease, oil, dirt and cleanses and tones your skin.

On the other hand, toner is that refreshing component for your skin which should be used just after you have cleansed your face .It contains more oxygen and hydrogen than water and skin loving ingredients like glycerine and antioxidants formulated in it. It works on maintaining pH level, shrinking pores, providing hydration. Many toners are filled with natural ingredients like aloevera, mint etc. that your skin is bound to fall in love with.

Should I Use Micellar Water or Toner?

Well, if you are thinking of choosing between one of them for your skincare, then you are not on the right path dear.

If Micellar water marks the prologue to your skincare regime, toner is the epilogue. Well in simpler words, your beauty regime should follow the golden rule of starting all the way with cleansing with micellar water followed by the application of a face wash, and then go ahead with a toner.

Hence the bottom line is micellar water and toners are not designed to meet the same purpose. The  truth is that they do exist two separate skincare entities and for very important reasons. So be smart and use them wisely.

Watching 4 More Shots Please From A Millenial Mother’s Point of View

Hello dear Readers!

Hope you are staying well and safe. So a few days back, one of the most popular awaited sequel to  the hyped 4 More Shots Please released on Amazon Prime and I am sure most of my female friends were eagerly hooked onto their screens for a couple of days to complete this series.

Well, for those of you who are still at their wits’ end, figuring out what this web series is all about, 4 More Shots revolves around four girlfriends, Anjana, Siddhi, Damini & Umang who represent the Modern millennial woman and their respective lifestyles. The most appealing part of 4 More Shots had always been its relatable plots & subplots. Season 1 made us believe there is no Superwoman in real and it’s okay to make mistakes and fall victims to its consequences. And here is where Season 2 loses its power.

Four More Shots

I am a modern millenial woman, mother to a 6 year old toddler and share quite a liberal approach to life.  And that’s what kept me believing in all the four characters of the series. But Ladies! Time for some reality check in the Season 2! When you begin to watch the series from a mom’s point of view, things begin to lose their relevance.

Let’s begin with Anjana, who is a divorced single parent, living with her small daughter, raising up her little one and managing a high profile corporate job.

Four More Shots Anjana

While Season 1 ended on an abrupt note wherein Anjana had landed herself into a soup after drinking and driving and being put under bars. Season 2 has no explanation to what had actually followed after that night. There’s a very brief mention of how she actually got the custody of Arya, her 6 year old. Anjana is a top-notch lawyer who has a great settlement with her former husband and his present wife and hence she can keep her daughter, there anytime. And thus, she doesn’t have any hurdles flying suddenly to Istanbul or going off to Udaipur for her best friend’s wedding.  Sounds sincerely cool, right? We so wish, all divorced couples shared this amazing equation.

Unfortunately, throughout the entire series, we don’t find Anjana spending quality time with her daughter. She is the perfect epitome of a working single mom. But somehow, as a mother, you would fail to identify yourself with her. Well, late night parties, sleeping with her boss, being completely oblivious of her daughter’s presence is where Anjana seems to be a little distanced from reality.  And yes, when it comes to single parenting, there is a chain of problems the mother succumbs to, and in Four More Shots there is no mention of any real time struggles Anjana faces. I so wish Parenting was such an “Utopian” concept, Anjana.

Four More Shots Damini

Damini Rizvee, the celebrated journalist is the second character, is now planning on her book, a controversial piece on some Judge Damodar.  Damini finds it quite okay to love someone else and enjoy sex with someone else. She finds it absolutely righteous to dismiss her sexual inclination{Milind Soman} at one go, when everything gets resolved between the former boyfriend{Prateik Babbar} and her. I do understand Damini, sex is a necessity, but using somebody only to get your desires satisfied is not quite justified, isn’t it?

Damini gets pregnant with Milind Soman’s baby and carries forward this pregnancy with some ideal idea of co-parenting. Seems extremely fascinating, but unfortunately, she undergoes a miscarriage. And right on the next day, we find her getting decked up for her best friend’s wedding. Please don’t judge me, I am not at all referring to her emotional status, but immediately post a miscarriage, it’s physically a bit impossible to enjoy a wedding. Herein, again Damini gets distanced from the reality.

Considering Umang, she is a gym trainer with a bisexual preference and she is deeply, madly in love with the celebrated actress Samara Kapoor (played by Lisa Ray) . I believe she is extremely well paid as a trainer, since she finds no difficulty  for her sudden trips to Istanbul or going for regular parties in her favorite bar. Also she starts rekindling the spirit of love in Samara’s life and finally restoring her life to normalcy.

Baani Four More ShotsLike an ideal girlfriend, she takes her for meditation, Yoga sessions, finally bringing her back to stardom. And when finally Samara starts living her life, believing in herself and prioritizing her career, Umang fails to accept it.

This goes to the extent of Umang cancelling off their marriage right at the time when they were just about to exchange wedding vows. She denies the entire pompous wedding just at one go and declares her real happiness lies in the company of her friends. Then girl, why did you take the pains of going through all this drama? For Heaven’s sake, please get your priorities right!

Four More Shots Siddhi

And then there is Siddhi, the spoilt brat of Four More Seasons, as I prefer to say. Siddhi hails from a super rich family and thus enjoys the freedom to celebrate her depression in the lovely lands of Istanbul. Siddhi is completely confused of her identity as in she has no idea of what to do in life{except for wasting her dad’s endless pool of money}. She finally discovers her passion as a stand up comic, starts sleeping with her co performer and faking orgasms repeatedly. And then when she is finally proposed by the boy, she disposes it easily stating she has just learned to discover herself and thus does not want to get tagged as someones’ girlfriend. In fact, Siddhi’s character seems to weaken the plot since she seems to be a completely insignificant addition.

None of the girls in Four More Shots face any monetary obstacles, no struggles of coping up with career and balancing a family life and certainly no hangover troubles. Wish life was this smooth! As a working mom, when we are always at our wit’s end trying to master the mantra of balancing parenting, career and family responsibilities, these girls seem to have achieved the Art of Perfection. And how can I forget the overdose of sex in the entire series? Girls, you have really raised our expectations.

Four More Shots wedding

But yes, Four More Shots deserves an applause for celebrating the colors of friendship. In a world where women rivalry is so common, it creates a hopeful land of beautiful friendships. Moreover, it keeps on emphasizing the fact that no Men is worth the drama of sacrificing your identity. Strength of womanhood and the blissful power of friendship are the only reasons to invest your time on Four More Shots for a one time watch.

Moms,Invest in A Tupperware Bottle Today As “All Plastics Are Not The Same”

Plastics have been an integral part of our kitchen essentials since ages. However with growing complications and the risks posed by the usage of plastic containers or vessels, they have been gradually replaced by melanin or bone china or glassware. “However all plastics are not life threatening”, this vision was recently achieved by me on a visit to the Tupperware main office at Gurgaon, a few days back.

Tupperware1

Tupperware has been a major part of my childhood lunch essentials. Whether my lunch box or my water bottle, my mom always preferred a Tupperware container over any other fancy stuff. While I always used to crib about that why am I not allowed to carry other eye appealing fancy items, my mom kept on insisting for the Tupperware containers? And thankfully, my visit to The Tupperware main office proved that my mom had never made a wrong choice.

Tupperware2

Today when I am a mom, I understand how meticulous one needs to be when you choose your childrens’ essentials. Beginning from the regular clothes to the skincare items or even the utensils for his use, it’s important to go for the perfect containers for safeguarding his health. Considering the kind of health issues arising out of usage of wrong plastic, it is extremely important that you give your little one the containers that are not only durable, trendy but also safe.

Tupperware8

Coming to Tupperware Plastics, the experience had really been awesome. Tupperware Plastics hold an upper hand over the other sort of plastics due to a host of reasons:

  • Can Be Used Repeatedly Without any Safety Doubts

Being made of 100% virgin plastic that is the best quality of plastic that is available. While a Tupperware Container is made, no trees are cut and no environment is hurt.

tupperware4 With the most superior quality of plastics from which Tupperware containers are made there is no duality when you approach a Tupperware bottle.

tupperware7

  • Sturdy, Durable: A Container That Stands The Test Of Time

So as a mom, we all face this weird issue of our kids damaging their favorite bottles quite often. While they want to grab all the eyes with a fancy Superhero container, at the same time they fail to care for the same. Well, considering their age, these are common issues, but as a mum, we are involuntarily tuned to be economical.

tupperware5Tupperware9 Tupperware containers are sturdier than we mothers can think of and yes, unlike other PET bottles do not get smashed by your kids’ repeated thrashes. Remember the old hindi song, “Kitne bhi tu karle sitam, has has ke sahenge hum”? Tupperware containers seem to voice out the same. They are durable like anything and yes, like all good things come to an end, Tupperware bottles really don’t. The only reason being that they can be recycled.  So Tupperware indeed is for a lifetime.

While investing over a Tupperware container might seem to be an expensive affair for some, however if you consider the long term benefits of the same, the expenditure is indeed an investment. I Bleed and I am Not Unotouchable!

A Take on Menstrual Hygiene Day in India!

Hello folks! Today, unlike my other blogs, I am not going to review any property or voice out my experience with brands. In fact, this post is going to be very personal and relatable. Today, as we are celebrating World Menstrual Hygiene Day and busy in sharing social media initiatives concerning the same, there’s a huge section in the society who still do not know that menstruation is a common physical phenomenon. In fact why should I point my fingers at the society? Even when I am penning down this blog, I know I would not be able to be vocal about my cycles in front of my father or father-in-law. And when it comes to sharing it with the other elder communities of the family, like my mom or mom-in-law, they would surely pay heed to me in patience but I would be immediately barred from entering the Puja Room or bearing any sort of contact with “holy” things.

Yes, I menstruate and believe me there’s nothing wrong in the fact. Just like a 3 course meal is essential for survival, menstruating every month is required for the smooth facilitation of a woman’s body. But as I chant out these big ideologies in the blog, I am not able to understand many in my family that there’s nothing wrong in experiencing your periods. It’s a God-gifted phenomenon and thus there’s nothing to be distanced yourself from God during this period.

I have always witnessed this typical “hush hush” of maintaining a deep ingrained secrecy in every family regarding menstruation. I still remember when my dad used to inquire my mom that why am I not doing the Puja that day, my mom always replied, “She can’t for 5 days.” This was enough for my father to understand that I am menstruating and he kept numb. My mom never allowed me to touch the cupboards during my cycles and the Puja Room was always a prohibited territory. Things didn’t change much post marriage since my mom-in-law too was from the school of thought. And seriously, I don’t blame any of them for the faiths they nurture. It is the society that has always been the sole reasons of superimposing these thoughts on them. And today, even when I call myself a modern matured millennial mom, super progressive in her thoughts, I still succumb to the “Period Rules” as underlined by both of my moms. However, I am always thankful to both of them for not compromising my menstrual hygiene in this Pandora’s box of traditional rules.

Not much deviating from the topic, my focus triggers back to the same crux that in the Indian society celebrating menstrual hygiene day would hold validity only when we are vocal and expressive about our cycles. At a time where we have issues like extreme cramps to handle, control intense bleeding and incomprehensible mood swings to take care of, let’s not make things more difficult for us. Let’s not a red stain on our white kurta dampen our identity. Menstrual hygiene and menstrual education go hand in hand and a proper celebration of this day in India would be truly possible when we all can voice out confidently, “We bleed and we are not untouchable.”

Introduce Your Health to Functional Medicine in the “Daivam Way”

Wellness is an intrinsic part of our identity and keeping well defines not only the state of your health but also gauges the mental state. And ideally maintain a great health in the recent times is not an easy task to achieve. And as a working mom, I have loads to consider. Work to take care of, household chores to finish, family responsibilities and many more. And definitely my state of health keeps on going down the list. Certain lifestyle diseases have definitely become my companions down the way and depending on regular medication has been the only solution.

Fortunately, a few days back, I happened to come across Daivam Wellness Centre, a wellness unit situated in Gurgaon and I was introduced to an innovative way of treatment, as “functional medicine”. Well, the nomenclature might seem to be a completely different area for common men like us who has believed in ages on the power of allopathic medicine.

For people who are unaware of what exactly functional medicine takes care of, well, this area relies more on the “why” of medicine rather than “what”. The Daivam practice of wellness is rooted in the fact of reaching out to the very source of diseases and treating it accordingly in sync with the effects caused by it. In simpler terms, Daivam believes that each and every string of our body is interdependent on each other and for the smooth flow of this scientific orchestration, it is important to treat the disease right from the cause rather than the effect. Unlike allopath, Daivam believes that when you are undergoing any sort of physical problem or an irregular state of health, then there might be certain mental factors too that might be influencing the same. Thus it offers a comprehensive caretaking treatment for both the symptoms and the results caused by the same.

The Holistic Way of Treatment is thus the Daivam Way.
