“Abhay 2” on Zee5 Explores #TheRoadToJustice With A Tale of Spine Chilling Crimes & Twisted Mind Games: Abhay 2 Review

Zee5 never fails to amaze us with its stirring range of crime web series and when we are speaking of its gripping chain of shows in the crime stream, “Abhay” can definitely not be missed out. If you had been lured by its first season, hold on to your seats as this time Kunal Khemu Aka Abhay Pratap Singh makes a sharper, stronger and more impactful entry and is bound to leave behind some tough imprints on your mind. And don’t mind me saying “Abhay 2” is not meant for the weaker minds. The action is stronger, plots are sturdier and crimes are definitely more heinous.

To begin with, “Abhay 2” returns with a bang that is bold and a characterization that has been chalked out with meticulous choices. We have an ensemble cast of Chunky Pandey, Bidita Bag, Asha Negi, the veteran Ram Kapoor and definitely the constant overpowering, righteous lawman, Kunal Khemu.

Every episode unravels a different layer of abhorrent crime, a form that cannot be endured with bare eyes. While the repulsion builds up, the episode makes a sudden end with an unprecedented surprise, only to heighten the element of suspense.  Director Ken Ghosh and his stupendous team of writers definitely have constructed a masterpiece with skillfully woven episodes to implant a peculiar amalgamation of repulsion and curiosity that does not let you ever lose out the tension.

A Gripping Characterization That Holds You To The Core

Set in the interiors of North India, the action and bloodletting never runs out flat that aptly matches the tone and location. Kunal Khemu has definitely grown as an actor, and his avatar in “Abhay 2” as the righteous officer treading on #TheRoadToJustice makes him come out as a far more polished and convincing character. His perseverance to seek the truth and punish the wrong as an honest officer battling all odds, though does not add the superhero feathers, but rather makes him a relatable person who can go to any extent to unearth the reality and fulfill his responsibilities. Herein, lies the magic of Kunal Khemu, who never overdoes it, rather so subtly implements it that it truly convinces as an extension of reality.  Nonetheless, his steady restrained acting that is not ready to tolerate any non-sense makes him grab all the eyeballs.

Chunky Pandey has been skillfully used by Ken Ghosh in quite a contrasting way to his usual comic realm. The first episode commences with him getting prepared to commit a dreadful crime, quite contrary to his innocent appearance. Herein lies the sharp, creative streaks of the director who knits the crimes and the reasons behind the same in an interesting way, far beyond the comprehension of common minds. It seems every crime scene has been plotted with the finest of ferocity and severest of blood-mongering. Ram Kapoor, the central villain, though makes quite a delayed entry in the plot, but never fails to lose out in curating a flawless devilish character with his byzantine scheming. His fiendish smiles apparently seem so real that they instantly lead to some devastative spine-chilling moments.

We have the powerful presences of Bidita Bag and Asha Negi too, as some strong characters enhancing the strength of the plot.

Devious Mind Games That Sweep Away Your Mind

What Makes Abhay 2 The Perfect Tale of Nail-biting suspense is its brilliant integration of logic and action. While most crime scenes fail to strengthen the execution or the reasoning, Abhay 2 excels in both the fields. Every path arrives with a fresh twist and is not an easy nut to crack. For example, when the school bus full of kids gets hijacked by one of the villains, not only Kunal Khemu but even we as audience are put into a fix, scuttling for clues to realize the problem.  The construction of suspense is so strong and the implementation of crimes so brutal, that you never feel the plot running flat. Ken Ghosh explores the darkest shades of human minds, something which he had done in “Abhay” too, but this time the intensity stands out to be undeniably stronger.
